Die Alte Gärtnerei wedding venue is located in Taufkirchen, Germany, just 15–20 minutes south of Munich’s city centre. It is easily accessible from Munich Airport and the A8 motorway. Munich itself is also a perfect destination for guests because it is easy to reach from anywhere in Europe, full of beautiful parks, lakes, museums, art galleries, and cosy Bavarian cafés. It’s one of those cities where you can explore culture, nature, and great food all within 30 minutes, which makes the whole wedding trip feel like a mini-holiday for everyone.
It is honestly one of those venues that instantly wraps you in its atmosphere—the greenhouse architecture with glass roofs, tall metal frames, and lush plants climbing up the walls makes it feel like a mix between a garden and a modern botanical retreat. And that’s exactly where Medha and Felix celebrated their modern but intimate Indian-German destination wedding surrounded by friends and family from all over the world.

Die Alte Gärtnerei is one of those rare “everything in one place” venues. You’ve got a cozy on-site guesthouse with a few rooms (around 3–4) for the couple and closest family, which is perfect for a relaxed getting ready without driving around Munich in the morning.
The venue itself offers four different greenhouses – Kaminloft, Loft, Palmenhaus and Atelier – that can be combined for guest counts from about 15 up to around 200 people, so it works for intimate celebrations as well as big multicultural weddings.
The location is in Taufkirchen just south of Munich, not in the middle of a dense residential area, and the venue offers open-end party options, in some packages even officially until the early morning (around 6:00). So it’s ideal if you’re dreaming of a wild dance floor with no early “music off” time.

The ceremony took place inside one of the greenhouses, where wide glass panes let in soft natural light filtered through leaves and structural shadows. It created this gentle, modern-yet-soulful atmosphere.
Medha and Felix chose a multilingual ceremony so everyone from both sides of the family could fully understand and be part of the moment. I would honestly love to recommend their celebrant — INES SPRICHT, she did such a great job keeping it personal, engaging, and emotional, even though multilingual ceremonies can sometimes feel long. This one didn’t.
Medha and Felix read their vows and closed the ceremony with a handfasting tradition, a symbolic gesture they added since they were already legally married six months earlier in Denmark, which is a popular choice for international couples because the paperwork is so much simpler.

Before the wedding, Medha shared her worry with me, she was afraid the guests might get bored while waiting for couple portraits, especially since it was such a small and intimate group of around 20 people. But the beautiful thing about Die Alte Gärtnerei is that you don’t have to disappear for long or go far at all.
We wandered through the greenhouses and garden paths and found so many little corners perfect for portraits — plant-lined walkways, hidden spots between the greenhouses, and even a field with a soft sunset just behind the venue. Instead of doing one big long photoshoot, we slipped away twice for just a few minutes each time, and nobody even noticed they were gone.
That’s honestly one of the biggest advantages of this venue: everything is close, beautiful, and effortless, so portraits feel natural and quick, and you get to spend almost all your time with the people you love.

Dinner at Die Alte Gärtnerei felt like a intimate family-style dinner in the middle of a secret garden, but elevated and elegant at the same time. The long wooden dinner table was wrapped in layers of candlelight, fresh florals in soft pink and cream, and hanging glass lanterns that look like tiny floating fireflies. And to top it off, the food was absolutely delicious, beautifully plated, full of flavour, and served by the kindest staff who made the whole dinner feel relaxed.
What I love about Die Alte Gärtnerei is how perfect it is for a long, carefree party night. The heated glasshouse means you can literally dance barefoot on the warm stone floor by candlelight, and it feels like a warm summer evening in Italy. And the best part? There’s no strict shutdown time — you can easily end up dancing until the early morning. Medha told me she had never seen her parents have so much fun on a dance floor as they did at her wedding.
