I embarked on my photography journey 13 years ago at Bata University in the Czech Republic. Soon I discovered my passion for telling stories rich in cultural diversity. This path not only shaped my art but also led me to become a better person. Five years ago, I and my husband Jindrich relocated to Munich, where we found ourselves captivated by the picturesque beauty of the Alps.
We'd already been a couple for a solid five years. The proposal happened during a summer festival while we were dancing to the beats of my favorite punk-Balkan fusion band - Gogol Bordello. Out of the blue, he grabbed my hand, dropped down on one knee, and asked the question. No engagement ring, no grand plan, just pure spontaneity, caught up in the magic of the moment. With tears of sudden joy in my eyes, I happily said yes. Instead of a traditional ring, he tied a blade of grass around my finger. Fast forward, now we've celebrated a decade together. Time flies when you're in love!
From the soulful notes of Johnny Cash or poetic verses of Nick Cave to the raw folk energy of Chuck Ragan, the rebellious spirit of The Clash, and the Balkan and jazz influences of Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra, this music is my heartbeat.
I immerse myself in my documentary projects. Alongside my friend, an ethnologist, we dedicated four incredible years to exploring the magical rituals of Roma women in Romania. Our collaboration resulted in a published book called "Women Selling Hope," and the project even earned awards and was showcased internationally. You can see the project at VICE.
